"Lessons Through Friends"

I have discovered a lot about life through the friends that I have had through the years.  One being, “you can tell someone how to get out of Hell but you can’t take them out yourself”.  My best friend as a teenager struggled with really knowing who she was & the saving power of God.  Being a few years older than her, I was kind of a mix between mama, sister, friend, & counselor.  I know that it sounds like a lot but I loved her & enjoyed my role.  Now that she has turned completely away from God and has allowed the enemy to plague her mind.  It’s almost like physical pain when someone you love refuses to live for Christ and accept Him into their life.

As I’m writing this I’m fighting back tears as I think of her and friends in my life that refuse God.  It’s not up to us to force God on them or even try to lay the guilt trip of not following God.
We are called to live a life pleasing to God: listening and obeying His promptings, spreading His word, placing and leaving Him at the center and putting complete faith in Him.  As my heart hurts for the decision that she and others close to me have made, I know that I will never stop praying for their salvation until I draw my last breath.  I encourage you to do the same, we only see what’s on the outside but we don’t always see the heart surgery that is going on inside.  Do not grow weary of praying and believing.  When it seems impossible, that’s usually when God steps in.

God continues to show me that everything that I have been through & learned is not so that I can get a gold star next to my name!  My responsibility is to use my mistakes & God’s redemption as a means of encouragement, giving hope & feeding into someone else’s life.  On numerous occasions when I felt blah in my walk with God, in walks someone that needs me more than I need to have a pity party.  I am so happy to know that my testimony is often used to prevent someone else from making similar mistakes.  So don’t be selfish with your testimony, there is a friend out there that probably needs to hear it.   There is someone in your phonebook, “friends” list on facebook, someone that you minister with that needs you to ask how they are, listen & allow God to take over the conversation!  If you are lead to that person, chances are that there is something that God wants you to share.  Try dedicating a week to pray for a friend’s circumstance or salvation!  You will never know what God wants to do through you until you allow Him to move!

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up”-Galatians 6:9
